the comment was made last night that there is a sort of conversation here in nashville. a frothy lightness, in which someone who brings heavy ideas doesn't have a hard wall to get a rebound from. instead, what they encounter is a type of cool whip that just absorbs the statements because there isn't the toughness or the educational fiber to stand firm and have a counterstatment.
I haven't had a lot of those deep conversations. There isn't a lot of depth here in Nashville. I feel that all of my friends haven't had to wrestle with some of the deeper stuff of life. Sure, they think about ideas such as social justice or enviromentalism, but there isn't a internal struggle with those issues. Too much of their background influences their decision making. they just default to a previously said statement by their parents or preacher.
What do i mean by this? Well, for example, i have struggled with my stance on creation vs. evolution. and not just what does the Bible say, but how does science support creation. how does science support evolution. how does the Bible support evolution. how does the bible support creation. what are some of the common arguement around both of these camps, what are the falicies, what are their loopholes. how does each side deal with the other side. how does the other side adjust to the other side. and facts for all these questions.
well, the moon is out. the sun is leaving. i will leave you with my train song.
